Arriving in New York from Allentown, Pennsylvania, talented young dancer Peggy Sawyer dreams of a place in the spotlight. Her first opportunity comes when she joins the chorus of Pretty Lady, the ambitious new musical from demanding director Julian Marsh. With celebrated leading lady Dorothy Brock heading the cast, the production promises to be a hit but backstage tensions, tangled romances and bruised egos threaten to overshadow the show.
When an onstage accident leaves Dorothy injured and unable to perform, the future of Pretty Lady hangs in the balance. With the company’s livelihoods at stake, Julian turns to the inexperienced Peggy to take on the leading role. Suddenly, the girl who only hoped to join the chorus must learn to carry an entire show.
As opening night approaches, Peggy faces the greatest challenge of her life. With the encouragement of her fellow performers and Julian’s relentless determination, can she find the confidence to step out of the chorus and become a Broadway star?
